Have you ever asked yourself – “Which advertising channel is best for my small business?”
There’s a lot to choose from, between Google, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, SEO (which is actually more of a method than a channel, but still…)
It’s important to know the best options to market your business’ products and services. Not only what’s logical but also what’s understandable for you.
Here’s what I have to say about it…

Some business owners think their business should be visible EVERYWHERE!
However, this might not be practical for a smaller business.
In order to be everywhere, a business needs a whole marketing department, a dedicated team to manage all sorts of different accounts, creating content, managing budgets and analysis, and so on and so on….
(And a HUGE budget too!)
For smaller to mid-size businesses, using just 2 or 3 marketing channels and sticking with them a while, can often give great results.
Once a business has achieved good results and a solid ROI from its online marketing, it’s often a good idea to try other methods as well.

Here’s a quick summary of some digital marketing channels to use for small business:
New businesses wanting to gain traction quickly (or existing businesses launching a new product) can do so with Facebook and Instagram. It’s great for online businesses who don’t have a physical location, and who want to cater to a specific niche demographic. It’s great for getting leads and contacts on your website, and selling lower cost products.
Google ads take a little more precision than other social media platforms, but they are probably the most effective in getting sales leads and selling products. Why? Maybe also because when people click on a Google ad, they were already searching for that product/service to begin with. The Google ad bumps you up first in line in front of your most valid audience.
Youtube has the same effect and potential as Facebook and Instagram. I see it as a great platform to build authority in your industry. Video content needs to be at a high caliber, so excellent production skills are good to have.
”Search Engine Optimization” means getting people to find your website when they search for something online. You can accomplish the same thing with PPC, only with SEO it’s better because you aren’t paying for it. Focusing on SEO is practical if you are a good at writing really relevant content (like for your webpages and blog posts) and especially if your business has a physical location that is relevant to your business, like if you have a restaurant.
Choosing the right advertising channel, and creating a good strategy to use it, are crucial to any business.
